Ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating false claims regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A persistent conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the first lady's biological sex.
Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence contradicting her allegations opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
